I love to pay attention to detail when a guest comes to our home. I’m not an expert on this and I’m not claiming to be, but I love having people at my house and treating them well. It gives me pleasure to serve others. It’s a way for me to tell them we missed you and you are important to our family. So this is my guide of things that I do to ensure we have a great time and I feel more relaxed because they are well taken care of.
There are three places that I pay close attention to.
Guest Bedroom
This are things I do to ensure the bedroom is clean and organized for our visitors
1- Wash bedding set (I do it the day prior to their arrival).
2- Clean window panels (We live in Arizona so things get dusty really fast).
3- Broom and mop the bedroom.
4- Wipe all the tables, dresser (any furniture), handles, and light switch.
5- Make sure fans, tv, or any electronic device are working properly.
6- Have extra blankets (In case they get cold).
7- I love setting a tray with towels, notepad, pen (so I write a welcome message and all the passwords for the alarm system and internet), and a basket where I include travel size products such as:
a) toothbrush
b) mouth wash
c) deodorant
d) makeup remover wipes
e) lip balms
f) razors
g) lotion
8- Optional. Install a multiplug (Nowadays, people have a charger for every electronic device, hair straightener, tablet, cellphone, watch, etc. So they have everything in the same place and feel comfortable). Plus, I have a foldable table that they can access in case of wanting to have breakfast in bed, write something, or use a laptop.

You get an idea. It’s thinking ahead of them of things that they might have forgotten.
TIP. If you want to take it up a notch have a present, your state cards with stamps (so they can send cards to others), slippers, or a robe.
Bathroom
Our guest bathroom is the one that my kids use so it’s important for me to start by removing any toys and clean it very well.
1- Clean the bathroom (sink, shower or bathtub, and toilet)
2- Broom, mop, and steam mop the floors (Get those nasty germs out).
3- Clean handles and light switch.
4- Make sure there is a new toothpaste, soap, toilet paper, and accessible extra toilet paper.
5- Wash rugs.
6- Clean shower curtain (replace it if necessary) or wipe (shower doors)
7- Wipe mirrors.
8- Make sure the faucets and the showerhead are clean (Sometimes hard water leaves some white stains).
TIP. I tie a Ziploc bag with vinegar.
Kitchen
Sometimes guests might feel embarrassed or intimidated to go into someone’s kitchen because they don’t know where things are so I do a couple of changes to make sure it's easy for them to find the things they need in my kitchen.
1- Start by making sure the kitchen is clean.
2- Set up a coffee bar (if you don’t have one). Accessible mugs, coffee, sugar, etc.
3- Have accessible water bottles.
4- Prepare a “food bar”. In this one, use your discretion because it will depend on how well you know the person. Place things such as:
a) Fruits
b) Bagels
c) Bread
d) Oatmeal
5- Have accessible napkins, silverware, plates, or anything that you think they might need.
Now, have fun and create new memories. Have a blessed day and see you next week!!!
