A couple of days ago (more like a couple of weeks, beginning of the quarantine to be specific) I told my husband that our guest bathroom/kid’s bathroom needed a quick update. Being in the house since March made me overthink every little space and corner of our home and our guest bathroom could not be the exception. I did not want to spend a lot of money, but I wanted to make a big enough change.
So here we go guys, this is a before picture…

Assess your bathroom
I started by assessing the bathroom.
What is my budget?
What can I change that can cause a great impact on the bathroom?
Should I add or buy new accessories?
So, give or take my budget was around $100. I could spend a little more and so I did.
I knew the first thing that I wanted to tackle was the first wall that you see when you open the door. So, the decision was made, I needed to figure something out.
Plan
I started to think about different options and the BUDGET!!! Something cheap, but that can change a room.
And what is something that can change a room with a small budget??
PAINT!!
But here is the dilemma, I painted that bathroom only four months ago and one of the things that I want for my house is the flow of color schemes with adjacent areas (Even though I sometimes consider myself eclectic and I would love every room of my house with a different style I have a husband whose style is modern. My top styles are Scandinavian and coastal, but the husband isn’t a big fan of Scandi so we compromised in moving towards modern coastal. We are still working on it!!!) Got a little out of track in here haha. So, our home color schemes are mostly brown, white, blue, and neutrals here and there. Therefore, I don’t want to find myself opening the bathroom door and seeing red, pink, or any other color.
I made the executive decision that we were keeping the blue color, but I wanted to add a certain “pizzazz” to it with the white that I already had. So, I found this modern stencil on Amazon (Click on it for more detail).
TIP. I learned the hard way that using a roller with a stencil was a big no-no for me. It started to move the stencil. So I came up with a technique, I’ll use a sponge brush for the edges and a regular brush for the interior or to remove any excess of paint.
After that, I realized that I splashed some white paint on the cabinets. Thankfully, I had some leftovers so I got into action.
Accessorizing
It was a matter of buying a couple of things to complete what I envisioned, so I did. I did not plan on changing lights, sink faucets, or anything so it was a matter of finding the right things for me.
Rug (make sure you check the size because I got the smallest for the bathroom),
A BUBBLE glass bottle,
Eucalyptus leaves,
And I couldn’t resist the Turkish hand towels
Here is an after photo...
